Absolutely. It is a very fun world to explore with a little something for everyone. Space travel, dragons, time travel, magic, guns, archery, origin stories that explain the same thing differently depending on the culture, necromancy, holy warriors, romance, friendships.

This is not entirely fair, while Blizzard would have a team of writers, the Head Writer/Narrative Designer would pretty much have the final say on what gets in or gets cut, A shit Narrative Designer could actually make the writing worse than the writers could otherwise write, and they would have little power to do anything about it if hes favored by corporate for any reason.I liked to imagine some Orc Mages were penitent Warlocks, but younger ones were likely just interested in magic and had plenty of opportunities to study Arcane in the modern Horde. A Tauren Mage might be a lore keeper of sorts, already studious and interested in other cultures before delving into the Arcane. 34.Humans are actually becoming my favorite race over night elves. Odd night elves have been my favorite since I began playing WoW. Humans are in a world of Gods. Azeroth has races with immense strength, amazing agility, genius intellect, inherent magical affinity, and even those who have defied death itself. And the humans are just that: human. Its nice to see a measured opinion. I think people want it to be good to such an extent that they aren't willing to accept that the current team is creatively bankrupt. Its not like they've got a new team of writers in since SL and the start of DF screams to me that they have run dry in the ideas department.

Demon hunters came first but I think a lot of the more recent lore undercut the older focus on demon hunters being very magically powerful. Illidan himself was a mage first, after all. Fel magic is extremely potent but unpredictable. Demon Hunters seem like a strong contender for strongest overall class since they do use a fair bit of magic. Generally magic>might in the Warcraft lore. While magic>might is a good general rule, I always tell people to take it w a grain of salt in these threads. In the end where's Ysera? I lost something important in all Dragonflight? Because we just sacrifice Malfurion (the most powerful mortal living nowadays) to revive Ysera, who at the moment don't haved nothing relevant to the lore. Malfurion could be alive and have more impact than reviving a character just to get player's attention (?).

What I've always found the most interesting in Warcraft lore is just how hodgepodge everything is. You have everything from Stone Age level "civilisations" like Murlocs or Troggs to basically evil interplanetary empire in Burning Legion, spaceships included. Everything have holes, Token, Harry Potter, Gamw of thrones. Warcraft lore isn’t much worst really and the lore is really good if u are into fantasy with a touch of sci if. Plenty of holes, but each individual story is very fleshed out and interesting, I think it's worth it.World of Warcraft. Cycle of Hatred. Night of the Dragon. Arthas: Rise of the Lich King. I would stress that this is the best way to get started in the lore, I would go so far as to say to start from Warcraft I if you're willing to learn how to play RTS' from the early/mid 90s.

Otherwise, Warcraft III's lore stayed mostly contained within the game. Then they hired Richard A. Knaak. [deleted] • 1 yr. ago Ahh yea, I forgot about the point and click game. Lord of the Clans was written by Christie Golden, and say what you want, but her books tended to stay way more consistent than Knaak lol.

According to the wiki: " Eldin Sunstrider — A random Blood Mage name in Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. As with all such characters, however, details and existence are unclear. Official material such as the Warcraft Encyclopedia has cited Kael'thas as the "last" of the Sunstriders, so Eldin's status in the lore is disputed: if canon, he must ...

Oh Murlocs are great. But the post isn't about which race is the most popular or anything. In terms of the "least impressive race," Murlocs are literally thrown in to missions as joke enemies a lot of the time. I'm playing devil's advocate hard here but murlocs be quite dangerous at times. I would recommend reading War of the Ancients Trilogy, the Arthas book, Stormrage, and the Illidan book. The "canonical" explanation is probably what little we get in the starting zones. You're a relatively young member of your race who is about to go out into the world but you just need to do this one more big thing to prove that you're ready. If you want to read the books for the lore of Warcraft 1 and 2 and the events between 2 and 3, you will want to read. But I believe he said Azeroth isn't a titan anymore but is more like a powerful fountain of power, like the world itself is just drowning in untapped power and that's what makes people wanna invade us 24/7. Rise of the Horde should be first from what I remember.

Part of what made Knaak's trilogy (the original one) so good was that it focused more on three new characters as the protagonists (Krasus, Rhonin, and the Orc) more than it did on establishing the groundwork with the elfers but it did alright with them too.

Loosely. Tolkien set up the paradigm for high fantasy with what are now "general" depictions of elves (arrogant, isolationist, natural, graceful), dwarves (greedy, boisterous, alcoholic, stalwart), and orcs (bloodthirsty, primitive, savage, selfish) but those are taken and twisted in various ways by many established universes. Playable warlocks can be thought of as decent people who utilise the power of demons for the greater good. When the threat of powerful evil forces is a reality, ignorance is dangerous. It was the orcs' ignorance of demons and their nature that allowed them to be corrupted with such terrible results. Zammin • 10 mo. ago. I suppose the difference largely matters to a Primalist. For a member of the dragonflights, they consider their current form to be a dragon and the old primal form a precursor. To them folks like Ysera are "true," dragons, and thus the precursor form is a proto-dragon. r/wow: World of Warcraft on Reddit!
